Addiction professionals have long known that addiction is a “family” disease, affecting multiple generations and requiring the support of loved ones to achieve long-term recovery.
Yet despite decades of research on the role of the family in generating positive outcomes, addiction professionals still struggle with nurturing meaningful connections between those in treatment and family members and others in their support network. Evolving family structures, increased reliance on social media, and other social forces only complicate the situation.
Join Addiction Professional and experts from around the area and the country for an examination of family dynamics in addiction treatment.
Upon attending this course, participants will be able to:
- Describe how changing family structures are affecting client outcomes.
- Explain how meaningful connections with a patient's natural support in the community reinforce the goals of a recovery-oriented system of care.
- Identify techniques for engaging families in the addiction treatment process.
One hour of continuing education credit will be available.
*There is a $25 registration fee, but all attendees will receive a $25 American Express gift card at the conclusion of the event. Registration is required to attend; seating is limited.
