National broadcaster Pat O'Brien will be the honoree at the eighth annual Experience, Strength and Hope Awards celebration in Los Angeles on Feb. 23. The annual award is presented by Writers in Treatment, an organization that identifies addiction treatment sources for writers in need of services.

O'Brien is being honored for what Writers in Treatment calls his “stunning” book I'll Be Right Back After This. “His story is poignant and profound,” Writers in Treatment founder Leonard Buschel said in a news release. “People from all walks will find his successes and misadventures wildly entertaining and inspirational.”

Past recipients of the annual award have included actor Lou Gossett, Jr., astronaut Buzz Aldrin and author and recovery advocate Christopher Kenndy Lawford. Ticket information for the 2017 event, hosted by actor Ed Begley, Jr., can be found here.

Writers in Treatment also produces the Reel Recovery Film Festival & Symposium, which showcases honest portrayals of addiction, treatment and recovery.
