The Meadows, a trauma and addiction treatment center in Wickenburg, Ariz., has been offering discounted inpatient services throughout the month of June in order to commemorate PTSD Awareness Month.
Meadows senior fellow and military veteran treatment expert Jerry Boriskin, PhD, also recently visited the Arizona facility to conduct a patient workshop on post-traumatic stress disorder. Boriskin explained that PTSD is best addressed when it is treated concurrently with addiction treatment, and he emphasized patient sleep, safety and sobriety as essential tools for healing from PTSD.
“What is unique about The Meadows’ program is the intent to do both at the same time; emphasizing first the sobriety and the detox, working on a recovery model that fits the individual’s needs, yet at the same time beginning to look at what PTSD is about,” Boriskin said in a news release from The Meadows.
The Meadows is a Joint Commission-accredited organization that has been in business for more than 35 years and operates three inpatient centers.
