A New Journey has named Dr. Lisa Hoffort, PsyD, CEDS, as Clinical Director of A New Journey Eating Disorder Center in Santa Monica, Calif. As a nationally known expert in eating disorders, Dr. Hoffort has worked at some of the country's best-known eating disorder clinical programs, including Reasons Eating Disorder Center at BHC Alhambra Hospital.
A licensed clinical psychologist and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS), Dr. Hoffort will bring her passion and expertise to the oversight of day-to-day activities of the clinical team.

Dr. Hoffort's treatment philosophy has evolved over time and is based on personal experiences. She understands the necessity of collaborating with clients on treatment goals and uses an eclectic approach with the belief that clients must be treated from every angle. Dr. Hoffort incorporates music, art, metaphors, yoga, and drama as means to help clients better understand why and how their issues developed. She feels that clients need to be offered a wide variety of treatment options in order to maximize the benefits of any treatment.

Dr. Hoffort earned her BA in Psychology from UCLA and her doctorate in Psychology at California School of Professional Psychology in 2005. Dr. Hoffort previously worked as a therapist on the Eating Disorder Unit at BHC Alhambra Hospital in 2004 and was promoted to Program Director in July of 2008, as the program transitioned into Reasons Eating Disorder Center at BHC Alhambra Hospital.

She started her private practice in 2005 and currently maintains an office in Pasadena, Calif. Dr. Hoffort's commitment to helping people overcome eating disorders has led her to reach out frequently to academic communities and mental health colleagues through educational talks about the causes, underlying issues, and effective treatments for eating disorders. Dr. Hoffort is also actively involved with the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (iaedp) and currently serves as president of the Los Angeles chapter.

A New Journey Eating Disorder Center, an affiliate of Rosewood Centers for Eating Disorders, is the first Partial Day Treatment Program and Intensive Outpatient Program in Santa Monica, California with a unique constellation of services for adults and adolescents suffering from eating disorders.
