Dominion Diagnostics, a national medical laboratory that provides drug monitoring services and clinical information for patient care, is recognizing its 20th anniversary in business. The organization was founded by a three-person startup team to “discover, develop and perform diagnostic laboratory procedures” for addiction treatment centers, behavioral health facilities, pain management practices, primary care practices and hospital systems, per a news release by the company.

Based at a 50,000-square-foot laboratory in North Kingstown, R.I., Dominion operates additional labs in Williston, Vt., and Greensboro, N.C. In 2015 and 2017, the company was recognized among the Best Places to Work in Rhode Island, and it has also been honored for three consecutive years as one of the Healthiest Employers in Rhode Island and achieved exemplary winner status for two straight years in the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island Worksite Health Awards.

Dominion Diagnostics now employs 300 individuals.

"Our employees are the foundation of our company; it's thanks to our people that we have grown and thrived for over two decades doing this important work," CEO Bob Garvey said in a statement. "There will be challenges and learnings that lie ahead of us for the next 20 years – with respect to regulatory changes and guidance, the growing concerns related to our nation's opioid epidemic and evolving drug use trends – but with our team and our experience, we are ready for those and we will continue to focus on delivering positive outcomes to patients' lives."
