Arlington, VA — The Employee Assistance Society of North America (EASNA) has reached 600 members for the first time in the association’s history. This increase follows the most financially successful Institute (the annual conference) in EASNA’s history. EASNA’s members come from across North America, including Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Just over 54% of the members are from the US, 45% from Canada, with the rest in other countries.
EASNA’s Board of Directors in constitutional mandated to be equally divided between Canadian and US members. In 2009 the board welcomed its first member from Mexico.
According to EASNA President Phil Evans, “These numbers demonstrate that the board’s decision to redirect EASNA’s focus has been financially and strategically successful. As a trade association, we support the EAP industry by educating the purchaser, offering legislative advocacy, best practice identification and design, and by promoting effective partnerships among providers, purchasers, and vendors across multiple disciplines. As a result, we’re attracting a much broader and larger group of employee assistance providers and affiliated businesses. Expanding our committee work with a new focus on Advocacy has clearly resonated with the industry. This is a big turnaround from where we were just two years ago and this new level of participation speaks well about the professionals who belong to EASNA. They clearly want their trade association to be an integral part of their professional lives.”
The association’s board met recently and completed a thorough review of its strategic plan. “We’re looking at new programs and a further expansion of benefits for our widening membership,” says Evans.
The 2011 EASNA Institute (the annual conference) will be held in Las Vegas, April 27-29 at the Venetian Hotel.
