A listing of the top 20 online master's degree programs in addiction and behavioral counseling that offer the best value has been compiled by

Using the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) and the Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE) accredited online master programs as a starting point, programs were ranked using accreditation, cost and length of program.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the need for qualified substance abuse and behavioral counselors will rise by 31% over the next 10 years as more people gain access to mental and behavioral healthcare under the Affordable Care Act.
