Benton joins treatment team at Insight Counseling

Sarah Allen Benton, who in the late 2000s wrote an acclaimed book on reaching the high-functioning alcoholic, has joined the treatment team at Insight Counseling, a Ridgefield, Conn., provider with a specialization in outpatient substance use services for adolescents and young adults.

Benton will serve as a therapist and group leader at Insight Counseling, which also offers mental health services, grief counseling and family support. Longtime adolescent psychotherapist Liz Jorgensen founded Insight.

Benton also offers presentations and staff trainings on topics such as treating high-functioning alcoholics and integrating 12-Step approaches into treatment of co-occurring addiction and mental health disorders. Her previpous experiece includes titles at McLean Hospital and the Connecticut recovery housing and support program Turning Point.
