BayCare Behavioral Health hires new medical director

Naakesh “Nick” Dewan, MD, who has worked in a variety of provider, payer and government agency settings in addiction and mental health over the past two decades, has been named medical director at Clearwater, Fla.-based BayCare Behavioral Health. BayCare operates inpatient and outpatient programs in four counties on Florida's Gulf Coast.

Dewan has worked in private practice in Clearwater since 2004, specializing in areas such as treatment of athletes, veterans and older adults. He has served as medical director of Sylvan Health Care in Clearwater and Turning Point of Tampa, and has worked as a quality measurement consultant with the National Association of Psychiatric Health Systems (NAPHS) and the U.S. Department of Defense.

BayCare Behavioral Health is part of BayCare Health System, which operates 11 not-for-profit hospitals and a variety of outpatient and specialty services in the Tampa Bay area.
