Heroes in Recovery, a grassroots movement celebrating the heroic efforts of those who seek addiction and mental health treatment, held a family-friendly 6K run/walk event on April 27. The event, which was held in Coconut Creek, Fla., was sponsored by Medivance Billing Service, Inc.

The charity beneficiary for this 3.728 mile race was Mount Bethel Human Services. The Heroes in Recovery movement, ignited by Foundations Recovery Network (FRN), has been carried on the shoulders of supporters, advocates, friends, family members and all those touched by the disease of addiction.

The goal of these races is to garner support for people in recovery and to educate the community at large about behavioral health issues. This Heroes in Recovery event, which had almost 500 participants, was the ninth race since 2011 in a series of 6K races being held across the country to raise awareness and destigmatize addiction treatment and recovery.
