Hazelden's Center for Youth and Families provides addiction and co-occurring disorders treatment for youth ages 14-25.
Clinically integrated, individualized care delivered in a nurturing and respectful environment defines treatment at Hazelden's Center for Youth and Families. Located in Minnesota, and serving approximately 700 youth annually from throughout the country and internationally, Hazelden's youth treatment campus specializes in developmentally appropriate, gender-specific care for patients ages 14-25. Services include residential treatment for addiction and co-occurring disorders, day treatment, extended care, continuing care and a parent program.
Under the Hazelden Model of care, interdisciplinary teams consisting of addiction counselors, psychologists and psychiatrists, physicians and nurses, family specialists, spiritual care professionals, and wellness specialists develop individually tailored treatment plans. “We know that addiction affects every aspect of a young person's life, which is why our treatment approach involves clinicians from many disciplines,” explains Executive Director of Youth Services Jim Steinhagen. Addiction counselors and mental health professionals work closely together, from daily consultation about patients to co-facilitating group therapy to address co-occurring disorders. Hazelden provides for patients' academic needs during treatment through the center's school program.
Hazelden, a national nonprofit organization founded in 1949, provides a comprehensive approach to addiction, including treatment and continuing care for youth and adults, research, higher learning, public education and advocacy, and publishing.
