A new intensive outpatient program (IOP) in San Diego will focus on the needs of impaired professionals such as physicians, attorneys and law enforcement officers.

RecoveryWorks, which is now accepting patients, was founded by Clark Smith, MD, founding director of the Sharp McDaniel Center Chemical Dependency Recovery Hospital. Smith often serves as a consultant in legal cases involving physicians, nurses, attorneys, pilots and police officers. A Nov. 17 news release stated that the RecoveryWorks program will include family treatment and alternative modes of therapy as key components.

“Licensed professionals are under greater scrutiny than ever before, due to increased demands for drug testing and DUI enforcement,” Smith said.
