As of Saturday, residents of Colorado can get medical marijuana out of an automated vending machine.

While this isn't the first machine of its kind, a report from NPR says that this is the first time the machine will be accessible for patients to use themselves (typically these have been found behind stores' counters).

The machine can supposedly verify a customer's age and identity through the use of biometrics. Those who work for American Green, the company that is responsible for the creation of the machine, believe that the machine will boost business because of the easy access and will also cut down on theft by patients and employees.
