Most of us who have tried to stay cheerful during this winter of wicked weather gave up weeks ago. This week, operators of the new adolescent treatment facility operated by Newport Academy in Connecticut decided it was time to wave the white flag as well.

In a communication opening with, “They say the third time is a charm!”, Newport Academy leaders wrote, “Due to winter's wrath, we are regretfully postponing our Open House. We are choosing a more beautiful time of year.”

Ever the optimists, leaders have moved the event to May 16 (rain or shine, by the way). “We promise to make it worth the wait,” they write.

Surely that mid-May day will be befitting of a celebration of a new gender-specific treatment center for youths that is nestled within a 65-acre nature preserve. Right?
