(4/16/2010)
Press Release

Orange County, CA — Sovereign Health of California, a premier behavioral health treatment center located in San Clemente, California, announced today the acquisition of Rebecca's House, an exemplary eating disorders treatment program. Sovereign Health of California, known for its expertise in addiction treatment, dual diagnosis, cognition, brain wellness and treatment of chronic pain, has expanded its behavioral health treatment to include an eating disorders program. A significant number of patients being treated for Dual Diagnosis, a combination of chemical dependency and an underlying mental condition, are also afflicted with eating disorders.  The latest data shows that over 8 million people in the U.S. are suffering from eating disorders.

Founder Rebecca Cooper, MFT, of Rebecca's House, planned on restructuring the company since last year.  "In these times, all successful treatment centers are looking at their operations to be certain it supports the treatment success.  It is very important that patients of Rebecca's House continue to receive the quality service that has always been provided.  There was a need to step back and look at a new way of doing the business portion, in order to be able to continue to help those with eating disorders. After months of considering offers and collaborations, I am pleased that Sovereign Health of California has acquired the business and allowed me to resume my position in clinical treatment where I belong."

Dr. Larry Snyder, Chair of the Governing board at Sovereign Health of California, commented, "We at are very pleased to welcome Rebecca's House to the Sovereign Health family.  Both companies have always put the patient first, and I believe that is what makes the strong synergy possible."

As part of the acquisition, Rebecca's House will remain focused on its nationally-recognized eating disorders program.  The eating disorders program is under Rebecca's direction and supported by the team of licensed clinicians and professionals of Sovereign Health of California.
